IG declares Anambra Safest since 5 years; urges Obiano to sustain the Tempo from his predecessor Chief Obi

                              
                                

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed yesterday declared that Anambra state remained the safest state in the last five years with police records.

Abubakar who was speaking at Women Development Center Awka , during the 1^st Anambra state Stakeholders’ Summit announced that there was no bank robbery in the state in the last five years during the governance of Chief Peter Obi.

The Inspector General of Police therefore urged the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano to emulate the his predecessor, Chief Obi by sustaining the security situation in the state.

He commended the relationship between the police and Anambra State Government under the former Governor of the State, Mr.  Peter Obi, which contributed to the improved security in the State, and reassured Governor Obiano that the police under him would give him 100 percent support to actualize his security efforts to sanitize the state of kidnappers and armed robbers.

He commended Obiano for starting on the right footing because according to him he knows what security was in the state before the last 5 years and encouraged Obiano to make the state better than what it is presently.

He encouraged Obiano to deal decisively with any traditional ruler in the state who encourages crime to thrive in his community as the person is not worthy to be a Monarch even as he blamed everybody to be guilty of security lapses in the country, hence the need for re-awakening.

IGP concluded: ‘’ I am ready to support Anambra Governor actualize its dream of securing Anambra state. And I must assure you that if the Governor is initiating measures to strengthen security in Anambra , he needed all the support and it is time for the Governor to tell you that the change you are looking for is here……’’. He assured Anambra people that the era of police impunity is over.

He further ordered that the harassment of road users by siren crazy politicians would stop as the DIG and AIG would return for a meeting  Monday to discuss modalities of stopping abuse of siren which after anybody contravening that would be  arrested by the police and prosecuted.

Governor Willie Obaino in his remarks earlier threatened to deal decisively with any Traditional ruler sabotaging the efforts of the state government on ending insecurity adding,’’ we must ride Anambra off criminals , so provide information to enable us and the police serve you better. What I am doing now in security is not a temporary measure but would be sustained and we are going to all nooks and crannies . I am very dogged and we are going to go aggressively against criminals in the society.

Obiano lamented that for 3 and a half years no kidnapping case was successfully prosecuted but expressed optimism that the Chief Judge assured him that within the next six months providing them with some needs, he would reduce the court cases to 50 percent in all the courts in the state.
