Former Governor Obi's President General Aniagboso Escapes Assasination In Agulu Community As Thugs Invade Town Hall During Meeting

                                                      

President General of Agulu Peoples Union Nigeria, Anaocha local government area , Anambra state ,Chief  Paulinus  Aniagboso alongside his Central Working Committee members narrowly escaped assassination following invasion of their National Secretariat at Agulu by unknown gunmen with policemen. 

They alleged that they were attacked by the men who they later identified to be part of the community but were having problem with the community for alleged impersonating of their monarch and cabinet during Labour Party flag off at Onitsha.

 In a petition to Governor Willie Obiano by the Agulu community signed by the National Assistant Secretary , Kenneth Nduka , a Builder called on Governor Obiano to institute a commission of inquiry to look into the development as it was so abusive and life threatened.

The Agulu community urged Governor Obiano to ensure sanity is restored as Agulu as a people would not want a total breakdown of law and order in the community and would not want an lost of life and damage to properties even though people have sustained various degrees of injuries are taking treatment at the government hospitals of their choice.

 The Petition entitled invasion of Central working committee meeting of Agulu People’s Unon Nigeria using armed mobile policemen about 6 in number led by Mr Jude Ilo (Professional Boxer as he holds African title), Julius Ilo, Joseph Ilo, Anthony Oguejiofor, Patrick Obah , Christopher Dilinye , Sunday Onyedibe, Anene Okoye , Emodi Ojimadu , Patrick Ejidike  and others yet to be identified thugs read thus in part: ‘’ I write for ourselves bad as representing the good people of our town in Anaocha local government area of Anambra state’’.

‘’Sir on the 26^th day of April 2014, the Central Working Committee members of Agulu Peoples Union Nigeria were holding their meeting at the National Secretariat at Agulu. The minutes of the meeting was read and the President General of the Union made remarks and appealed to the meeting that non members and uninvited guests should leave the meeting hall. He also requested Julius Ilo, Christopher Dilinye and Anthony Oguejiofor who had forcibly sat on the seats reserved for the Traditional Ruler of the town and his council members to equally vacate the seats.

‘’Not quite long the President made the remarks , Mr Jude Ilo (a Professional boxer) menacingly moved straight to the President and started giving him fist blows and in the processes the aforementioned persons with thugs wielding clubs, matchet and other weapon took their own turn in beating the President General and other executive officers of the union.

‘’These happened under the intimidating influence of over six armed mobile policemen possibly hired to supervise the attack on the innocent citizen of Agulu town. These hoodlums also made away with the Union’s minutes books , cash totaling N640,000 generated levies paid and money meant for payment of labourers. In the bid to drive home their intimidation , the hoodlums were shouting that ‘’it is no longer the time of Mr Peter Obi is the Governor’’ , ‘’It is time for everyman to test his personal strength and not to lean on somebody’’. The hoodlums also made other unprintable statements and vowed that no meeting will again hold in the town hall or else what happened in Oko town in Orumba North L.G.A will be a child’s play.

‘’At the heat of this incident , policemen attached to Neni police station were contacted on the phone and upon their arrival , they were contacted on the phone and upon their arrival , they intimidated by the presence of the said armed mobile policemen and thugs and incidentally could not make arrests. This incident has been officially reported at the Neni police station , who on their own advised that they are helpless in taking further steps in that policemen were involved in the attack and to avoid being accused of challenging superior authorities who may have detailed the policemen to accompany these people to Agulu Town Hall , the Agulu people are now helpless too. It is important to note , that these persons who took over the traditional ruler/council seats or sponsored the attack were the notorious divested title holders who conspired and impersonated the traditional ruler of Agulu Town at the Labour Party Rally organized at the Holy Trinity ground Onitsha prior to the last governorship election . Since the divestment of their titles , Agulu town has not known peace , by all attempts to destabilize the smooth running of the present town union government . This include frivolous petition to the police against the executive officers of the town , robbery , kidnap cases and threat calls from South-Africa with this no +27746884806 to the President Generals No 08033130160 threatening to deal with him if he did not desist from issues involved in the last election. Following this last brazen attack on the officers of the union , tension is growing gradually now in Agulu town since the 26/4/2014 which if unchecked may escalate unabated.

‘’His  Excellency Sir, we do not want a total breakdown of law and order in Agulu. We also do not want loss of life and properties , though people who sustained various degrees of injuries are taking treatment at the government hospitals of their choice . We most passionately call on you to institute a commission of Inquiry to look into this development  and unmask the ‘’Boko Haram like incident rearing its ugly head at Agulu town. Your intervention sir will guarantee the security consciousness of APGA government in Anambra state particularly at the hometown of your predecessor.  

Reacting to the allegations contained in the Agulu Peoples Union Nigeria petition to Governor Willie Obiano, the chief accused , Chief Tony Oguejioffor –Agidigbo admitted they disturbed the meeting of Central Working Committee of Agulu but argued they were violating a court order not to have the meeting .

‘’There is a court order restraining him from trying a case concerning me and others in the meeting. I came for a meeting and he asked me to go out when he violating our constitution of Agulu and disobeying court order. He violated court order of Awka High Court Justice C.A Emembolu dated 15^th January 2014 which was served properly. Tell them if they are your friend not to call any meeting again or there would be bloodshed’’.

He however directed this reporter the members of Agulu Board of Trustees especially the Chairman or member/owner of Franklin marble for better clarifications as they are the only people that can resolve the matter.

Another person mentioned Anene Okoye , known as Odogwu Agulu confirmed he was part of team that came to the hall to disrupt the meeting as directed by deities in Agulu Aba na Udo  Nka and Ajana Agulu.  He lamented that the present Executive were calling police and going to court against what the constitution stated hence he was annoyed and acted the way he did.

He appealed to them to stop using police and court but allow the senor patrons of Agulu Peoples Union Nigeria to intervene and resolve whatever issues the community had for peace to reign because he hates police and court the executive is dragging Agulu people to. He admitted carrying the minutes books but would surrender it to the Agulu Trustees ,’ if they call trustees I will bring the books. It is not about war but peace…’’.

But the Legal Adviser of Agulu Community Celestine Ofili said the court restrained the President General and the Secretary as well as the Igwe as persons and not Agulu Peoples Union Nigeria as a legal entity hence they have no locus to do what they did adding that if there is such case against the community he should know. He dismissed their allegations of those who invaded the community meeting place.

When contacted the Traditional ruler of Agulu Igwe Innocent Elochukwu Obodoakor condemned the invasion and appealed to all his subjects to embrace peace as each and everyone has his or her own merits to contribute for the growth and development of Agulu community. He admitted the incidence took place but before he arrived for the meeting place wondering why some people from the community should beat up their leaders thereby by implication insulting the community as the leadership holds it in trust of Agulu people even as he called for caution. He described it as shameful and an act the ancestors would not forgive the perpetrators.

Chief security officer of Agulu Sunday Nkala said he invited the police when the situation became out of control and he feared somebody may be killed but was disappointed they could not do anything when they came because mobile policemen came with the invaders.

But the DPO of Neni , Mr Adama did not disappoint as he admitted the Agulu community reported the incidence and he dispatched his men who went and brought normalcy to the tensed situation . He said the matter is under investigation , assuring that he was out of his station and would bring everything under control when he returns.
