Confusion Over Ifeanyi Uba’s N400 Million To Strengthen Labour Party , As Federal High Court Judge Visibly Angry Over Pettiness

Facts emerging from some aggrieved members of the Labour Party, LP in Anambra state showed how some high officers of the party allegedly embezzled over N400 million given to the party by the Governorship candidate in November 16 governorship election in the state, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Uba.

However, odogwuemekaodogwu.com  gathered that apart from the alleged embezzlement of the fund allegedly meant for repositioning the party towards the last governorship election by the State and national officers of the party, some aggrieved members of LP have approached a Federal High Court sitting in Awka to contest the alleged suspension and removal from office by the state Chairman of the party, Chief Sam Oraegbunam.

In a suit No FHC/59/2014 pending before Justice M Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Awka between the Deputy State Chairman, Anambra North senatorial zone of Labour party, Mr. Luke Ezeanokwasa and ten others and Chief Samuel Oraegbunam and five others, the applicants held that the alleged removal of the applicants from office by the defendants was illegal.

However, counsel to the applicants, Mr. Ifeanyi Muoneke in his application held that the defendants lacked constitutional rights to remove his clients from office citing Sections 34, 36 (1) and (3), 39 and 40 of the 1999 constitution, adding that the action was a breach of his clients’ fundamental rights.

Mr. Muoneke further prayed the court to set aside the said suspension and removal from office of Ezeanokwasa and ten others on the ground that the decision was null and void and an infringement on fundamental human rights.
The counsel to the applicants also sought an injunction restraining the state and National Chairmen of Labour Party, (LP) from further infringement of the fundamental rights of his clients and urged the court to declare the suspension of his clients as illegal and such should be null and void.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Abubakar who was visibly angry over what he termed non seriousness on the part of the defendants said that the defendants have shown that they are not serious with the case and promised to give accelerating hearing to the matter on the next adjourned date.
