Over
200,000 traders at popular Okpoko market known as Ndida wall market were lucky
yesterday when a construction company tipper driver lost control of the lorry
due to brake failure and ran into the market.
The
Truck ran into the market along Ede road Okpoko but a source at the scene said
the driver had informed the company of the need to be overhaul the truck but
was ask to be managing it for awhile before the incident.
The market has a capacity of over One million,200 thousand traders, but no life was lost.
Anambra state scout commissioner Dr. Chukwujekwu Ibe was seen with his men
controlling traffic and protecting the scene to avoid angry traders from
setting the truck ablaze before the arrival of police men from Okpoko police
station.
