Over 3,000 Registered With OPM For Jonathan In Anambra

                                                      

Support for President Goodluck Jonathan's actualization of his second tenure in 2015 comes from right, left and center in the South East geo-political zone with the formation yesterday in Nnewi, Anambra State chapter of Oriental Peoples Movement (OPM) with its campaign slogan, Think Presidency, Think Goodluck.

The maiden meeting of the group at an open field in Nnewichi, Nnewi attracted over 3,000 interested members from all walks of life who registered with Chief Mrs Ezeobi Benedetta Azuka as its co-ordinator who said the movement would be officially inaugurated in Nnewi within the week.

"We want to make it clear that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock as far as 2015 presidency is concerned. This is the essence of our campaign. We support President Jonathan for 2015 because we know that after his second tenure power will move from South South to the South East and we are sure that Mr President will not fail us. And because he has done well, he has to go for the second tenure,"Chief Mrs Azuka said.

She said the bedrock of the support for President Jonathan would be mobilization of women and men from the twelf oriental States including Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia through networking. 

According to the OPM declaration, the radical and hard stance of the All Progressives Congress (OPC) promoters should be a wake up call for all Easterners. It said its uncontrolled inflammatory political utterances, anti-democratic body movements and weird style of Boko Haram campaign, necessitated the need for all oriental people to rally round President Jonathan for a sucessful poll in 2015.

"We are the oil that feeds Nigeria's progressive turbine. For almost a century, since the amalgamation of Nigeria, the nation had always derived her economy from the Eastern Region, if you are in doubt, go and check National Libraries. For almost a century, Nigerians have not thought it wise to allow a graduate from the Eastern Region to become President, rather they are recycling the Northern elements with Teachers Training Certificate to come and rule us," the movement contended.
