International Women Day In Anambra State : First Outing Of Chief Mrs Ebere Obiano

                            
 Wife of the Anambra state Governor Chief Mrs Ebere Obiano distributed items worth several millions of naira today at Women Development Center Awka during this year's International Women Day. See What the husband said:

REMARKS BY HE DR WILLIE M. OBIANO EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE ON THE OCCASSION OF THE 2014 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY CELEBRATION,  ON 28 MARCH, 2014

I feel exceedingly privileged to stand here to represent our Governor HE Chief Willie M. Obiano, who is away on official government business.  I shall read out his brief message. 

"I bring you warm greetings  as you mark International Women's Day Celebration.

This year's theme, Equality For Women Progress For All, is most appropriate and speak to our commonly shared aspiration. This is also a day set aside for women to interact with one another. 

The society is anchored on women; Today, the values of our Igbo society are equally anchored on women.  But our society and our values have changed. 

What then is the importance and value of this day?  It is to reevaluate and recommit to upholding womanhood and women empowerment and enfranchisement. 

Subsumed in the foregoing are all rights and privileges due to women;  starting with equality.  

I wish to reaffirm my support for existing women empowerment programs and reassure that they will be sustained and improved upon.  My political appointments will reflect the required balance.  We will certainly attain and surpass the prevailing 35% ratio. We are totally committed to gender mainstreaming. 

Our policy platform; the four pillars of  governance  -- agriculture, oil and gas, industry,  trade and commerce --  as well as all enablers will be women friendly. 

As we march forward to taking Anambra to the next stage of development and industrialization, I will count on you all, including my dear wife HE Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano and the wife of our Deputy Governor, HE Mrs Oby Okeke to continue to mobilize women,  to empower them and help us raise our children.   

Please take your advocacy role seriously.  

Our children are our future;  they will continue to ride on your back, stand  on your shoulders as they rich for the skies.  Help our youth to truth to know.

For my part, be assured of my full support and solidarity in all that you do to promote womanhood and motherhood.
