There is tension in Obosi, Idemmili North local government Area of Anambra state , following the slaughter of 23 people in a renewed ‘cult like war’ allegedly on who controls the community.

And according to security report, there may be burning of prominent citizen’s houses and property by the cult groups to attract open confrontation that will be high on casualty ratio if no intervention is done now.

Prominent son of the community, Prince Emeka Ike Orizu who nearly lost his life in one of the mayhem told The Nation that Obosi is burning as many youths have been wasted.

He is calling for a through investigation to all the alleged killings in the community by a specialized security team from the presidency, so that the culprits will be brought to book.

Director Anambra State Security Services (SSS), Mr Alexander Okeiyi confirmed the killings in Obosi but said he does not know the number of causalities so far but blamed the killings in Obosi to a group his men dislodged last year involved in criminality, kidnapping and drugs.

‘’……… I hope you are aware of the killings in Obosi? The same groups are behind the killings in Obosi and I want the media to partner us in wiping away kidnappers and criminals from the society. I don’t know how many they have killed but there are killings in Obosi. ……

Speaking in the same direction, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra state , Usman Gwary who spoke through the Police spokesperson , PPRO , Emeka Chukwuemeka confirmed the crisis and killings in Obosi but said he could not put a figure to the causalities.

Chukwuemeka said: ‘’I don’t know the number of people already killed in Obosi but we are investigating the matter. I know there have been killings and the CP is not sleeping over that.

Obosi is the home town of former Commonwealth Secretary, Chief Emeka Anyaoku and the Corps Marshall , Federal Road Safety Corps , Osita Chidoka and Chief Dan Chuke, Nigeria’s Former Minister of State for Aviation among other prominent Nigerians.

The Nation reports that there have been protests from youths and women over the disappearance of one Mr. Tochukwu Nebo former chairman Obosi land management committee, known as baby boy in Obosi and environs allegedly in the hands of State Security services after the community security handed him over to them.

The witness Prince Orizu said further: “ Over 23 indigenes of Obosi have been killed. You don’t just kill a person at no course, no trial, just for a mere allegation leveled against. I wondered why the SSS and the Igwe A C Iweka’s Special Taskforce infringe on the rights of our people. Why can someone kill another without evidence of offence or trial? They told you that someone is a rapist, drug pusher,, kidnapper, robber or whatever and you go ahead and shot the person dead just like that? What are they using these corpses for-ritual or what?

“You can’t get peace in a camp of injustice. Justice must prevail. These families have petitioned the Federal and State Government, Security Chiefs, National and State Assemblies even the in coming Governor, Chief Willie Obiano for intervention.

When contacted, Igwe A.C Iweka  through the Palace Secretary , Shedrack Okenwa  confirmed that cult groups clashed and that left sorrow and tears on both groups.

He said the cult groups have been killing themselves daily and asking this reporter if he is aware of the clashes yesterday.

He however exonerated the Igwe of having hands in the problems in Obosi before quickly asking the Chief Security Officer  of Obosi Community to react to issues bothering security and cult clashes in Obosi because he is more competent.

Chief Security Officer /Adviser , Ken Ikenwa confirmed the cult clashes that have left not less than 9 people dead.

He wondered why Orizu is making spurious allegations against Igwe A C Iweka and prominent citizens of Obosi demanding to know if he is a lawyer or a bailiff.

'' ……..They have killed 9 youths and more would be killed. They want to act big now by setting houses ablaze that is the information we are getting now just to discredit the Igwe as if he is incompetent. They are being sponsored.........but I will not call anybody’s name.

‘’Security men are now afraid in Obosi because anything we do , we would be framed up . We are not working as we suppose to because of false accusations against us. We don't kill and we are not security to the Igwe but to the community under community policing of the state government. The bad groups in the community are killing themselves and they are being sponsored by big weights but I won't mention anybody's name’'.
