Community Where Wearing Trousers By Women Is An Offence:Wear Trousers In Akwaihedi And Pay N50,000

                  

 For Ladies and women of substance in Akwaihedi, Nnewi South Local Government Area , the fear of wearing trousers is the beginning of wisdom.

The Community allegedly passed a law against wearing of trousers and anyone found wearing trousers should be forced to pay N50,000 after molestation.

’’Any lady caught breaking the rules after being molested would be made
to cough out N50,000.00 or get banished from the town.

odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that but for the quick intervention of youths in the community, youth corps members who had gone to the community for the CDS were almost stripped naked.

A corps member, Grace Uduak who was one of the victims of the new policy alleged she was taken aback when the traditional ruler of Akwaihedi pounced on her for wearing the NYSC uniform in the town on the grounds that she was putting on trousers.

Another source who will not want his name in print said that about ten
people in the community have been fined by the community court in line with the new law.

The source claimed that the situation has become worrisome because
policemen are not even allowed to enter the community because the
royal father said his traditional court would handle all domestic
issues.

 The paramount traditional ruler of the town, Lt Col Wisdom Onebunne, (Rtd) was the arrow head in the law against wearing of trousers in alliance with the Town Union’s leadership.

The law promulgated by the Igwe and the president
general of town union stated that no woman is allowed to wear to trousers in the town. Women were also alleged to be forbidden from walking on the
streets of Akwaihedi without covering their heads with head tie.

Any lady caught breaking the rules after being molested would be made
to cough out N50,000.00 or get banished from the town.

When contacted the royal father Lt Col Onebunne (Rtd) and PG of Akwaihedi claimed that the matter has been resolved amicably. The duo however refused to go into details.
