War brought 280 back from Central African Republic to Anambra





The Anambra State Government yesterday contacted the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) concerning the 280 evacuees of its citizens among Nigerians being repatriated from the conflict torn Central African Republic (CAR). 
A statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Osaeloka Obaze said the state Governor,  Peter Obi has been fully briefed of the development and he has ordered for immediate resettlement of its citizens involved.
Anambra State appreciates the Federal authorities especially the Presidency and NEMA for the assistance being rendered to its indigenes and for their seamless cooperation on this matter.
The statement said Obi has directed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) working in cooperation with Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Anambra Liaison Office in Abuja to liaise with NEMA to ensure that the affected Anambra indigenes are fully and properly catered for.

The initial batch of fifty-two (52) Anambra indigenes have been processed and properly settled in Abuja upon arrival, pending their being conveyed to Anambra while a second batch were equally being settled as at press time.  
Of these, some 159 persons have been identified as being of Anambra origin. Those in this batch will also be conveyed back to Anambra this weekend once they have been processed by NEMA and Anambra Liaison Office.
