No fewer than three vehicles were burnt down yesterday by
hoodlums protesting the killing of an Anambra state Traffic Agency ( ASTA) man by Hausa men.
Trouble allegedly started when the ASTA people stopped the
Huasa men for Traffic offence at Ihiala and entered their vehicle but the vehicle
zoomed off and along the road the ASTA man was over empowered and killed.
The incident was observed by a Motorcycle Operator who followed
them to Upper Iweka and raised alarm only to discover the dead body of the ASTA
man in their lorry. The mob descended on them burning vehicles .
The police allegedly rescued the suspects but intense riot
was ongoing now in Onitsha. Details
