Obiano To Appiont Commissioner For Awka Capital Territory, Obi Calls For Prayers

     

 

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state has appealed to Anambrarians to assist the incoming Government of Chef Willie Obiano with prayers to enable it surmount the challenges associated with leading the state.

Obi said contrary to the grandeur and goodies people associate with governance , it is more of hard work which could only be surmounted by prayers and perseverance.

Speaking at a reception organized for the Governor Elect by Ndi Anambra in the Diaspora at Hilton Hotels , West Chess , Houston, United States of America, Obi represented by the Information Commissioner/Director General APGA Gubernatorial Campaign Organization , Chief Joemartins Uzodike, said prayer is the key to succeed.

Obi said,’’ the Governor Elect is coming at a time when expectations are high , owing to monumental achievements of Mr Peter Obi in areas of road infrastructure , health, education and welfare packages for community leaders and the general public.

He reminded that Obi raised the stake of governance higher in Anambra which led to his winning awards like The Sun Newspaper’s Man of the year award, This Day’s most financial prudent Governor as well as the most recent award of 2013 man of the year by Silver bird and Allied communications outfit.

  He described Obiano and his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke as a team with exceptional qualities , capable of meeting the expectations of the people even as he added that Obiano is like David chosen against all political permutations  and predictions but with sterling qualities that stood him out.  

The Governor Elect , Chief Willie Obiano thanked Ndi Anambra in Diaspora for the honour done him and assured the people of the state of his readiness to carry the lofty goals on even as he commended Obi for his development efforts in the state , especially the recent award of contracts for reconstruction of Amawbia-Amansea-Awka  end of the expressway.

Obiano went ahead to announce that he would appoint a commissioner in charge of capital territory to ensure proper development  and upgrading of the capital territory.

Earlier, traditional ruler of Nteje, Igwe Rowland Odegbo had thanked Governor Obi for fulfilling his promise of producing a state Governor of Anambra North extraction.

  

Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi, Most Rev. Dr. Hilary Odili Okeke has appealed to Governor Peter Obi not to quit politics against the Governors proclamation that he was done with politics. 

The cleric said the entire people of Anambra State, Igbos and Nigerians pray that people like him should have the opportunity of serving Nigerians at the centre in view of his exceptional performance in Anambra State. 

Bishop Okeke said this yesterday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala shortly after he received the cheque of N100million Naira for ongoing projects at the Hospital, as well as another cheque of N30 million for the Maternity and Childcare complex at Azigbo.

Two days ago, the Governor also presented a cheque of N100m to Archbishop Valerian Okeke for mon going work at St. Charles Borromeo Hospital Onitsha, saying that other hospitals in strategic partnership with the Government of Anambra State would receive theirs as part of the “final push” by his Government towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals by the years 2015
