Luxurious Buses Fares Slashed In Onitsha as Crisis Over Mugo Park Ends

                                      

     The thirteen (13) years old dispute between the owners of the large expanse of Mugo Park, Ugochukwu & Sons Nigeria Limited and Chief Mike Emerah, a transporter in Onitsha Anambra state has been settled.

To this effect, over one hundred luxurious buses loading and unloading at various points of roadsides in  Onitsha, Anambra State are to relocate to Mugo Park in the commercial city  following the resolution.

The peace initiative came to fruition 13 years after the two parties had lost great human and material resources in the course of the crisis, according to the two parties who embraced each other and toasted at the park to confirm that the war was over.

Chief Emerah said, "No more fighting. All the luxurious buses loading outside are mandated to come into the park and cost will be reduced. It is regrettable that a park which used to be a bee hive with over 100 luxurious buses loading and unloading at the same time is left under used because of crisis. We must give peace a chance because we have lost a lot’’.

He said there was no point to recall what brought about the crisis that had cost the two parties a lot to handle " so many people were wounded, some died and businesses collapsed in the process."

But for Hon Nedu Ugochukwu, former member of House of Representatives the crisis had ended in 2014 as a sign of good things to expect in the year.

One of the witnesses at the event and also a transporter, Mr Patrick Chukwuemeka Ofoloma said it had been the prayer of all the transporters in Onitsha for the crisis to be settled so that those in the industry would have a relief with respect to loading and unloading spot.

"The purpose  is to decongest the roadsides and make this place a luxury bus park. That was the earlier design before distractions came in and we have been praying for peace which has finally been achieved, " Ofoloma said.
