There is confusion
in Port Harcourt following an explosion that hit the town this morning at
Rumuokoro round about. Already there is conflicting reports on where the bomb
blast was coming from but the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi in a state
wide Television broadcast, said the bomb last in Port-Harcourt was from a
gang of 4 armed robbers who were planning to rob a bank but met their
waterloo from an explosion from dynamites within the car while Occupants were
smoking.
He alleged that
two robbers died and two surviving suspects have been apprehended and currently
in hospital.
Other sources said
the bomb blast came from alleged terrorist who blew himself up before arriving
his target and three died and three rushed to University of Port-Harcourt
Teaching Hospital.
Police authorities
have cordoned the entire Rumuokoro off, even though Amechi , the Governor has
visited the scene of the incident.
Another version had it that some robbers
not Boko Haram members on their way to rob a bank blew up themselves due to
carelessness of smoking inside a grenade loaded vehicle.
Citizens are blaming the
Nigerian police for fighting constituted authorities rather than defending
institutions and allowing wrong stories and wrong actions to be going on in
Port Harcourt. They called on Mbu Joseph Mbu to re-direct his energy to avoid
regretting his mission as Police chief in Port Harcourt.
Benson Ogwugwu a resident said , the infighting between
the Governor and Police boss is unhealthy and asked the Federal Government to intervene
to avoid anarchy from returning to Port Harcourt because of Amechi.
