200 Transformers Distributed To Anambra Communities By Obi

Anambra state Governor, Mr Peter Obi today distributed 200 Transformers to communities in the state.

Speaking at the 4th phase of transformer distribution at Government House Awka yesterday Obi said the number brought to 1000 the number of transformers distributed to communities in the State.

He called on communities that have not benefited to quickly write to the Governor, assuring that all verified and genuine requests would be considered and settled within the life span of his Government.

Obi said it was surprising that people express surprises that he was still working even when he had less than two months to stay in office, saying that he would actually come to the inauguration of his successor from his work table.

He said that once service delivery was uppermost in the minds of people that govern State, that the desire to work for their good in season and out of season would be their driving force.

The Governor who called on all Anambra people to have the interest of the State at heart at all times, said that the drive to make Anambra an exemplary state should be the concern of all.

"Today, Anambra is doing well in all sectors. Tomorrow (today), for instance, we shall perform the ground- breaking ceremony for Distell, one of the biggest companies in South-Africa that is building their facilities at Ozubulu. Many other companies are coming in addition to those already operating in the State. By Thursday, we shall also flag- off the distribution of 25,000 computers, Generators to all the schools in the State as well as complete the distribution of buses to schools that have not got theirs. All I ask of you is support for the Government, especially my successor, whom we are sure will sustain the tempo of development," Obi said.

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for  Public Utilities, Water Resources and Community Development,  Dr. Joseph Nwankwu said that the Government of Peter Obi was indeed a glorious dawn in the history of Anambra State. He noted that communities contributed money in the past to get transformers and that under Obi the highest no of transformers were shared in Anambra State and for free too. He described the gesture as Obi's complementary efforts to assist PHCN in the improvement of power in the State for the revival of industries.

The Commissioner said that apart from communities where flood affected in 2012, which the State was working in, that all the parts of the State had been connected to the National grid. He expressed optimism that Gov. Peter Obi would finish strong and create a solid foundation for continuity of APGA government in the right direction.

Speaking on behalf of benefitting communities, the President General of Nibo,  Mr. Okey Nwankwu    thanked the Governor for his goodness to the State and for making the needs of the people the cornerstone of State policy. He prayed that the incoming Government would follow in Obi's footsteps.
